Embrace and Drive Change

Are you empowering your direct reports to drive change?

Part of being in a growing company is that change is constant. We must all learn to embrace change enthusiastically and, perhaps even more importantly, encourage and drive it. Change should be driven from the bottom up – from the people who are on the front lines, closer to the customers and/or issues. If we want to stay ahead of our competition, we must continually adapt and keep them guessing. A website, design, and even process can be replicated, but your people, your culture, and your service cannot.

Take Risks

When people dread going to work, it’s usually because they know they are leaving a piece of themselves at home. Why not see what happens when you challenge your employees to bring all their talents to their job and reward them for pushing the envelope, or for being adventurous, creative, and open-minded? Let your employees take risks and try new things. Some will work and some will not, and that’s OK. The key is to learn from your mistakes and use them to help develop and improve your gut and decision-making skills.

How can you make your relationships more open and honest? How can you do a better job of communicating with everyone?

Communication tends to be one of the weakest spots in any organization. Open, honest communication is the best foundation for any relationship. It is important to be a good listener as well as a good communicator. At the end of the day, it’s not what you say or what you do, but how you make people feel that matters the most. In order for someone to feel good about a relationship, they must know that the other person truly cares about them. This is true for any type of relationship: business partners, managers, direct reports, customers, vendors, co-workers, etc. This is a key differentiator for CrowFly; we care!
